Global Survey on the Quality of MOOCs
The Global MOOC Survey is launched! It is the first global survey on the quality of Open Education and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Main goal is the improvement of future MOOCs by developing quality indicators and tools. "We will ensure that the next generation of MOOCs will meet the personal goals and needs of the learners better!", underlines Christian M. Stracke of the Open University of the Netherlands, coordinator of the European MOOQ Alliance, initiator of the survey. The leading international associations and organizations in the field support the survey including three United Nations' organizations. The survey is open until the end of March 2017.

Quality assurance

The survey addresses three main target groups: MOOC learners, MOOC designers and MOOC facilitators. The survey collects design and learning experiences and analyses and discusses them with the aim of developing quality indicators and tools that in the long term should lead to the improvement of future MOOCs. All findings from the scientific, independent and non-profit survey will be published and shared online.

MOOQ

The Global MOOC Survey is designed and organized by MOOQ, the European Alliance for the quality of MOOCs. Based on the survey results a Quality Reference Framework with quality indicators and tools for MOOCs will be developed and discussed in close collaboration with all interested stakeholders worldwide. Their contributions and evaluation will lead to valuable instruments for designers and facilitators to improve future MOOCs for all learners worldwide. Christian M. Stracke of the Open University of the Netherlands coordinates the European MOOQ Alliance.

International support

The Global MOOC Survey is supported by three United Nations' organizations: UNESCO-IITE (Institute for Information Technologies in Education), ITC-ILO (International Training Center of the International Labour Organization) and FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization. Forthermore a score of the foremost international institutions in the field support the survey. Among them the International Council for Distance and Open Education (ICDE), Open Education Consortium (OEC), International Community for Open Research and Education (ICORE), Commonwealth of Learning (COL), European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU), European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN), European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning (EATEL), Contact North (CN) and many more.
