Trends conference: Artificial Intelligence in Education

The sudden rise and success of OpenAI's ChatGPT and its competitors was a wakeup call for societies and the global research community. Suddenly, everyone became aware of the capabilities of these so-called large language models and the benefits and risks they may come with, including their potential impact on education. During the Trends Conference on Friday, October 11, 2024 in Heerlen, various aspects of AI in education will be discussed.

Resources in education

Generative AI in general, being able to understand natural language input to generate texts, images, videos, music, and other forms of digital media broaden the scope of these productive tools and their use in education. AI in education, however, is a field with a long research history and covers a broader scope than the use of large language models and other forms of generative AI.
