Funded by NRO, this 2 year investigation involves 5 linked studies into how adults with low basic reading and numeracy skills levels experience education and what the implications of their experiences are on the educational services they receive. The influence of emotions on participation decisions and learning performance play a key role in this project.

Outcomes from this project will have a direct impact on the practices and resources used by teachers to support the needs of this target group. In the Netherlands alone, this group is estimated as including more than 2.5 million people above the age of 16 who struggle with language and maths and who perform under basic level.
