Dr. Angelique Lansu and Dr. Dennis uit de Weerd hosted first PICO session ever at Open Universiteit
End October 2019, the Faculty of Management, Science and Technology organized the second edition of the international symposium Learning and Innovation in Resilient Systems. Dr. Angelique Lansu and dr. Dennis Uit de Weerd, both attached to the Department of Natural Sciences hosted the first PICO session ever on a OU conference at the symposium.

In a PICO (Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome)-session, presenters pitch their research in 2 minutes. After the pitches, session participants can visit presenters of their choice, who present their research in more detail using screens that act as interactive posters. A PICO session provides the opportunity to light out a wide variety of research, with plenty of room for discussion. This set-up is ideal for presenting starting research or student research.

Lorenz stipendium

At this first PICO session on spatio-temporal dimensions in interactions in socio-ecological systems, four students took part. Their participation was financed from the Lorenz stipendium, which the parents of OU-student Lorenz Dierckx (BSc milieu-natuurwetenschappen), who recently passed away, had made available to promote climate research by students. The general enthusiastic response to the PICO, makes this set-up worth repeating.
